Nexplanon is a progestogen-only contraceptive implant. This website contains Nexplanon product information and resources that are intended for UK healthcare professionals. Nexplanon is a type of long-acting reversible contraception that adds to the many methods available to women today. The Nexplanon implant consists of a single rod that is inserted just under the skin on the inside of the upper arm and releases low daily doses of etonogestrel for up to 3 years.

General information about the contraceptive implant, Nexplanon, and other contraceptive choices is provided in the Information for Women section of this website. More information about the Nexplanon implant is also available for women who have already been prescribed the contraceptive implant.

Please note that you should consult your doctor or another suitably trained healthcare provider when considering the contraceptive implant and deciding on the type of contraception that may be most appropriate for you.
