The Nexplanon implant and women who are breastfeeding

The Nexplanon implant may be used during lactation. Although small amounts of etonogestrel are excreted in breast milk, this decreases with time and does not influence the production or the quality (protein, lactose or fat concentrations) of breast milk. Nevertheless, the development and growth of the child should be carefully followed as a precaution.1
