Contraindications to the use of the Nexplanon implant

The Nexplanon implant should not be used in the following situations:1

  • Active venous thromboembolism
  • Known or suspected sex-steroid sensitive malignancies
  • Current or a history of severe hepatic disease with abnormal liver function
  • Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
  • Hypersensitivity to the ingredients
  • Known or expected pregnancies
