Nexplanon – Long-acting Reversible Contraception
Nexplanon is a progestogen-only contraceptive implant that provides women with a form of long-acting reversible contraception as recommended by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence.1–4 Here you can find out why the Nexplanon implant offers women:
- A constant and effective contraceptive choice
After simple insertion just under the skin of the non-dominant upper arm,1, 5 Nexplanon provides up to 3 years of highly effective (>99%) contraception.6–13 - A generally well tolerated and accepted method of contraception
Nexplanon is not dependent on user compliance and with appropriate pre-insertion counselling and management of patient expectations, the progestogen-only contraceptive method is generally well tolerated and well accepted.8, 9, 13 - A reversible and cost-effective contraceptive option
Following the removal of Nexplanon, there is a rapid return to fertility,6, 8–10 and data show that it is a more cost-effective option relative to oral contraceptive use.2, 14
