Checking the location of the Nexplanon implant

Following insertion of Nexplanon, both the healthcare professional and patient should be able to feel the contraceptive implant. To check the location of Nexplanon, it is recommended that both ends of the contraceptive implant are sought rather than the implant itself. It is advisable to document that both the healthcare professional and patient are able to feel the implant in the patient’s notes.1
